  2. let me ask for your guys opinion if this is a good strategy. I currently have a teaser with den +4 at -120 with den being the final game on the teaser. would it be wise to go seattle ml at +115 to try and middle? I figure is seattle wins by 1-3 points I win all of the bets. if seattle wins by 4 I win the ml and push the teasers which means a win. if denver wins I lose the seattle ml and basically push. is there a scenerio I am overlooking where I would lose all bets?is this a good strategy? I wouldn't do anything if lang was on seattle. what you think? thanks all.

  3. Good morning Chris! Lang has lost like the last four days, I am looking for an outright win by Seattle today. But your teaser has +4, my gut is not to try and hedge it.

  5. IMO - if Seattle wins, the game will be close. The only way this game is a blowout is if Denver gets up early, forcing Seattle to play catch up - which effectively takes Lynch out of the game and puts it solely on the shoulders of a still very green Wilson. Now - can this happen? Yes - it can. Seattle has a tough defense. No doubt. But they haven't been challenged by the likes of Denver's passing game away from their home turf. Sure - they stopped the Saints twice, but that Saints team isn't Denver. It's not even Indianapolis - who beat them 34-28.
Seattle wasn't challenged by any great offenses in their own division. SF is still winning games via defense. The Rams and Cards aren't offensive juggernauts. Their non-Conference games went through the AFC South. Beating Houston, Tennessee, JACKSONVILLE, and losing to the Colts. The crummy Houston team nearly beat them and rang up over 300 yards passing. Out of division NFC games were against Tampa Bay, who they had to rally to beat (at home no less), Minnesota (a last place team), the Giants (who were terrible) and the aforementioned Saints.

Denver on the other hand lost 3 games, to New England, Indianapolis, (both on the road), and to a division rival San Diego on a short week Thursday game. They beat that Charger team 2 other times.

I can appreciate that it's the Super Bowl, and the temptation is to bet like there's no tomorrow. But guys - THERE IS. Unless you really feel this game is a slam dunk, don't treat it any different than any other game. Discipline in gambling is essential.

Now, FWIW - I see Peyton pushing the Seattle secondary with a myriad of receivers Seattle hasn't seen the likes of all season. Demaryius Thomas, Wes Welker, Eric Decker, Julius Thomas. If they get up early, it's over. If Seattle gets up early, Denver can come back. I don't think Seattle can if they get down early. Despite Lang (and that's a factor here), I am putting a SMALL bet on Denver and laying the 2 points. Seattle has the ground game, which can be diffused. Seattle has the defense - which hasn't seen the likes of Denver - and I think Manning and the experience of some of the other players outweighs Seattle strengths.

As always I wish everyone good luck.

  8. To clarify - what I mean by Seattle running game can be diffused is that I think they take it out of the game by getting up early. I don't think Denver can STOP Lynch. And if it gets tight, Lynch becomes a huge factor. Manning knows this. Fox knows this. So I expect bombs away from Denver out of the gate. They know (or should know) their best road to victory is to diffuse Lynch by getting up fast and removing him as a viable option. We'll see.

I'll miss football, and can't wait for baseball. Until then I'll muddy along with hockey and hoops. After slow starts in all three, I've climbed back to .500 in NCAA hoops and NBA. Hockey is still lagging - but quite frankly, it's got to be the toughest sport to handicap.

GL ALL! Let's keep the blog going after the big game!

  13. I see Lang, DeMarco, Budin, and Craig Davis over at Pick Nation all had the Broncos. Their new guy, Gabriel Dupont, made his first pick with the Broncos. Not sure what the Sports Reporter has, but I can almost bet they were on the Broncos too.
