MR. LANG ANALYSIS

The better coached team prevails today.

Nothing against Paul Johnson but Kyle Whittingham is just a better football coach and rest assured with time to prepare he will handle this Tech offense.

The bottom line is it's not something Utah hasn't seen before. I mean, they spent the last 20 years battling Air force who essentially runs the same offense.

Utah's last 5 games versus Air Force and the triple option offense saw them win 4 out of the 5 SU holding the Flyboys to an average of just under 20 points a game.

Yes, motivation on both sides is a question mark.

The Utes ended the season losing at home to Colorado to end the season costing them a date in the Pac-12's Championship game but Tech's fall from grace was even more devastating.

Cruising along at 6-0 traveling to Virginia they lost outright 24-21 as a 7 1/2 point favorite and the free fall didn't end until the lost 4 of their last 6 overall.

From a vegas standpoint this team finished 1-6 ATS their last 7 and this team shouldn't be trusted laying points against anybody right now.

Utah has had impressive performances away from home this year as they should have beat USC in the most bizarre ending of the season.

They hammered BYU 54-10, Pitt 26-14, Arizona 34-21 and Washington State 30-27.

I have made money going against Georgia Tech in bowl games against good coached teams that have faced the option before and the extra time to prepare is invalueable.

There is a reason Georgia Tech has lost 6 straight bowl games and yes, Utah did have their string of 9 straight bowl wins snapped last year by Boise, it still doesn't take away from how good this team is with time to prepare.

I will roll the dice in a very big way with offsnsive coordinator Norm Chow of Utah against Al Groh of Tech anyday of the week.

Utah is the 7th best run defense in the country and with all this time to get ready, that defense will be the key today.

Small dog barks loudly this afternoon.

MR. LANG ANALYSIS:

Keep this short and sweet.

Watching Ucla and Illinois offensively today will be like watching monkeys hump a football. (Can you name the movie that line is from).

I will force these two teams to get over the posted total. Just don't see it.

Not only has UCLA gone Under 6 of their last 8 overall but the Illini have gone under their last 6 games overall.

Good enough for me to ride the under and force both of these teams to show me they can score some points this afternoon.

As for Vandy, bottom line is this is still SEC speed versus Big East speed and watching Wake Forest battle Miss State yesterday it made shake my head knowing Vandy hammered Wake 41-7 to close the year.

The Bearcats couldn't handle Tennessee on the road earlier this year as they were completely outclassed by the SEC and I fully expect them to be outclassed by Vandy today.

Cincy is 0-4 ATS last 4 bowl games overall while the Commodores are 6-1 ATS their last 7 games overall.

I will roll with the SEC at a value number all night long.

As for the last games, same principles apply.

You give me an SEC team against an inferior conference and I will swing for the fences with the SEC all night long.

My problem with Virginia is their last game of the season when they were shutout at home 38-0 to Virginia Tech.

The Cavaliers have been offensively challenged all year long and that will be their downfall here tonight.

As for Auburn, sure you see a 7-5 record but what you also see is their 5 losses were to 5 teams of which 4 are in BCS bowl games while the 5th played in the SEC championship game.

They lost to Clemson, Arkansas, LSU, Georgia and Alabama.

I will go down swinging with the defending national champs on a fast track with more offense facing an offensively challenged opponent.

It's SEC day new years eve 2011 as this small chalk delivers.
