Why Steve Stevens was such a good fade:
His record of games posted at the SBR was 14-21-1. If you bet to win $100 on each game, you would be down $1,163 without knowing the extra juice on buying the hook a few times, using Las Vegas Hilton final lines on baseball picks.
He was on the favorite 30 times, on the underdog 3 times and took the under in 3 total plays in the NBA. The detailed record is available at the Steve Stevens picks thread.

Looks like we are not getting the Steve Stevens plays anymore to fade. The Lang fade has been terrible as Lang has went from down over 1,000 dimes to now down only 433 1/2 dimes.
Today I am thinking about going with the visiting underdog, the Oklahoma CIty Thunder +5 1.2 over the Spurs. Favorites are 24-49 in playoffs this season. If I do take the Thunder, probably be for 2% of the bankroll.
Since Chevy is hot in MLB lately, probably take all his picks for 1% of the bankroll each.

Good Afternoon guys.
Very light schedule today in MLB. I'm on your NBA pick as well. Like Ok City tonight too.

MLB

Detroit/Cleveland over 7 -115 (230/200) TheGreek
Washington -170 (340/200) TheGreek

Today's MLB action is light, but these are the best of the small bunch IMO. Tigers won't be cooled off by Indians. But their plane had issues and at 3:30 AM they had to return to a hotel, and won't be arriving until hours before gametime today. Smyly flew out earlier, so he's there, but he's not had a good track record vs Indian hitting - even the lefties. That combined with the fact the Tigers might not be at the top of their game defensively (and they STILL haven't posted a lineup - shows how far behind schedule they are) may lead to a few runs for Indians they might otherwise not have gotten. I think the Tigers will take out their frustrations with their bats. WHOA - Lineup JUST popped up. Kluber may be a decent pitcher right now, but the Tigers main men have shelled him in the past. Vs Kluber, Miggy is 8 for 17 with 3 HR's 7 RBI's and an OBP of .526. VMart is 6 for 12. That alone should be enough to get this run total over 7. On a 1-5 scale, I'm wagering a 2.

Washington pick is pretty simple: Strassburg at home is 3-1 with a 2.30 ERA and the Reds are without Votto and Bruce - and have lost the last 5 starts when Leake has taken the mound. And the Reds are giving him practically no run support. I don't see that trend stopping vs Strassburg and without 2 key cogs (Votto/Bruce).

Well, that's my 2 cents for today FWIW. My last 18 days (documented - unlike our buddy Lang) at the R/X is 30-13-1 +5100 units. I can't keep a 70% clip up forever - but I'll do my best. I just wish I had waited 3 weeks before starting. Each sport - NFL/NCAA/NBA/NCAA HOOPS/MLB I have started out slow, and then about a month in - gotten hot. So you can guess how I'll play in the future.

I hope this blog is helpful and entertaining and even possibly profitable to you. I will never tell you to bet a hockey game! Can I tell you the secret to sports betting in two words? Money management. One thing I know for sure, you are here and you are reading this. You are a winner!

My rules for sports betting:

As you win, your bets per dime should go up. As you lose, your bets per dime will go down. This automatically adjusts for runs or streaks. You should bet more when you are winning and bet less when you are losing. This rule does not apply to Labby Lines.

ALWAYS get the best line. Shop Around. Get up early. Have multiple outs. This is critical to long-term success, you have to do the work. Never play at a sports book which is known for not paying winners, make sure your sports book is not on the Black List. For grading purposes, we will grade all plays as what is most available to players. So don't be surprised if I change the line during the day for grading purposes, IF the line goes against me.

Use 1,000 dimes. Have the biggest bankroll you can put together. Most of the money you can just keep in the bank. But it has to be there to withstand any severe downturn. This is money you can afford to lose.

Never pay for a pick or bet based on what a paid tout says. You know I am giving you my best opinion, because I am not selling you anything! Help your hungry neighbor if you want to give money to someone. You need to have a filtering process to beat the vig. You got to win more than you lose.

If you ever get the urge to bet on a hockey game, lay down till the urge passes.

If you hit a winning streak and get ahead a lot, consider taking your original bankroll off the table and playing with just the profits. As night follows day, a good winning streak can be followed by a bad one.

Watch for fishy lines in college basketball in small leagues, such as the Horizon League. If several casinos have this off the board and the line moves so that it crosses zero stay off the game or consider betting which way the money is flowing. It may turn into a very entertaining game to watch in the last two minutes.

Don't bet the board. Be very selective. Surround and pound! Scared money is no money. Less is more!

Don't do parlays. Bet one game at a time. Parlays are for losers. Never bet on a hockey game.

You can do teasers, but be very selective.

When you get burned out on gambling or don't feel you are up to your best game, take a few weeks or months off. Enjoy the profits. Travel the world or do something different. Life is short.

Football rule - Tattoo this rule on your arm: Buy the half point (the hook) either up or down depending whether you are on the favorite or the underdog when the line crosses 3, 4 or 7 and sometimes 10.

In the NFL, skip the game or play the other side when a home team opens up at -2 1/2.

Bet the favorites early and underdogs late, especially in a game that is getting a lot of action. Generally the public will be all over the favorite, driving up the price.
