What are your plans for after the basketball season? Will you continue into baseball? I've been trying to find a good MLB myself so I'm trying to find out who is good. I found a Oklahoma Sports Monitor site that tracks some handicappers over the years. For MLB I researched that it looks like a capper by the name of Oskeim Sports Consulting has done the best over the past 3 years.

2011: 64-36 64%
2010: 73-52 58.4%
2009: 105-68 60.7%

That's 60.8% over 3 years. Not sure the accuracy of this site but I follow Indian Cowboy and his numbers seem spot on. I've never heard of this capper. What do you think?

Mattymeach: Does Oskeim Sports Consulting bet heavy favorites? They could have a winning season with the game win/loss record but still lose money. I bet baseball but never take heavy favorites. I stay off any games over -140. I find pure win/loss or dime records deceiving at times, thats why I prefer to use an actual bankroll to keep track. I have never heard of Oskeim either. Thanks for the input, I will check Oskeim out. I appreciate your comment, its good to see folks actually follow this blog. I don't think I have hurt anybody. Good luck to you today!

You make a good point, I'm not sure how they bet. You have certainly helped me since I have been following. If you don't mind me asking, how did you do during the mlb season last year? I assume that you will be continuing this blog throughout the whole year?

Mattymeach: I just started this blog in November of last year. I never intended to go this far with it, lol. I had a hell of a run at the end of November and December so I kept at it. The only thing I can talk about is what is on this blog, as its all documented. Not sure how long I will continue this blog, but I do plan on blogging through March madness. I could quit here on an all time profit high, but that might make gambling look too easy! With comments like yours, it makes me want to continue. Good luck today!

Popped in earlier tonight to make sure you were fading our good friend Mr. Lang again earlier today and was happy to see you and IC were on the Buffaloes as well. Congrats on a great night. I also wanted to echo Mattymeach's sentiments as I have found this extremely helpful and entertaining. Since I started following this blog in November my bankroll and overall approach to this crazy game have improved greatly. Thanks again and I hope you keep this up through the MLB season. This is an informational blog for Nevada residents only. Please feel free to make comments. If you think I am full of it, tell me! I hope this blog is helpful and entertaining and even possibly profitable to you. I will never tell you to bet a hockey game! Can I tell you the secret to sports betting in two words? Money management. One thing I know for sure, you are here and you are reading this. You are a winner!

My rules for sports betting:

As you win, your bets per dime should go up. As you lose, your bets per dime will go down. This automatically adjusts for runs or streaks. You should bet more when you are winning and bet less when you are losing. This rule does not apply to Labby Lines.

ALWAYS get the best line. Shop Around. Get up early. Have multiple outs. This is critical to long-term success, you have to do the work. Never play at a sports book which is known for not paying winners, make sure your sports book is not on the Black List. For grading purposes, we will grade all plays as what is most available to players. So don't be surprised if I change the line during the day for grading purposes, IF the line goes against me.

Use 1,000 dimes. Have the biggest bankroll you can put together. Most of the money you can just keep in the bank. But it has to be there to withstand any severe downturn. This is money you can afford to lose.

Never pay for a pick or bet based on what a paid tout says. You know I am giving you my best opinion, because I am not selling you anything! Help your hungry neighbor if you want to give money to someone. You need to have a filtering process to beat the vig. You got to win more than you lose.

If you ever get the urge to bet on a hockey game, lay down till the urge passes.

If you hit a winning streak and get ahead a lot, consider taking your original bankroll off the table and playing with just the profits. As night follows day, a good winning streak can be followed by a bad one.

Watch for fishy lines in college basketball in small leagues, such as the Horizon League. If several casinos have this off the board and the line moves so that it crosses zero stay off the game or consider betting which way the money is flowing. It may turn into a very entertaining game to watch in the last two minutes.

Don't bet the board. Be very selective. Surround and pound! Scared money is no money. Less is more!

Don't do parlays. Bet one game at a time. Parlays are for losers. Never bet on a hockey game.

You can do teasers, but be very selective.

When you get burned out on gambling or don't feel you are up to your best game, take a few weeks or months off. Enjoy the profits. Travel the world or do something different. Life is short.

Football rule - Tattoo this rule on your arm: Buy the half point (the hook) either up or down depending whether you are on the favorite or the underdog when the line crosses 3, 4 or 7 and sometimes 10.

In the NFL, skip the game or play the other side when a home team opens up at -2 1/2.

Bet the favorites early and underdogs late, especially in a game that is getting a lot of action. Generally the public will be all over the favorite, driving up the price.
