Fresno State-SMU Over the Total (60)
Just one game on the board today and it's Fresno State (-12) versus SMU in the Hawaii Bowl. When you see a game with a side price in double-digits, you would expect to find a total much higher than today's impost of 60, especially when the underdog is coached by one of the most creative offensive minds in college football, June Jones, who built that reputation with his high-scoring teams at Hawaii, and returns to island fresh off 29 days to throw in some new wrinkles in his SMU offense, one that put up 35 points in a home upset of Tulsa to close the season and rang up 34 against South Miss, 44 versus Memphis and a season-high 72 against Houston.
SMU, however, is not without its defensive flaws as the team allowed 36-or-more points five times this season.
Fresno carries a three-game Bowl losing streak into the contest, but the Bulldogs averaged 47.2 points in winning their final five regular season games. Although tough against the pass, they're vulnerable defensively on the ground, allowing 171.9 yards per game. Today the 'Dogs are tasked with trying to stop Zach Line, who cracked the 1,000-yard barrier for a third straight season with 1,297 yards rushing.
The Bulldogs are not immune to giving up points; they allowed 36 to Nevada and 32 versus New Mexico in their last two road games and 40 at home earlier to San Diego State.
With two teams that can put up points - and give up bushels as well - the Over is the logical play in a contest forecasted to be played in near-ideal conditions (77 degrees and mostly sunny skies).
thanks rick! somehow this blog wont let me comment from my phone!

Shaneel: The game is over, I did not like either side here. We needed another two scores to win this.
