VIDEO CORNER: My Two Cents with Brandon Lang

  1. FYI: Just thought I'd let you know when I'm hot. Last week, my picks (just the ones I posted on RX) went 11-0-2 for +1800 units (units from 100 to 500 per selection covering NFL/NCAAF and NHL). Finished #5 overall out of 24 hadicappers for MLB too, even though I didn't start posting picks until September.

After a rough NFL start of 1-7, I've gone 18-10. I've actually done better than that but those are the picks that are on the RX site and are trackable.

Again, not bragging, but just a "For what it's worth" heads up (unlike people like Lang - my picks are track-able). I know I'd like to know when you guys are hot, so I just thought I'd do the same. My picks are always posted on RX. Most times I post them here too.

Haven't done my due diligence for today yet though.

    GL all!

  9. FWIW - I'm not going on Northern Illinois tonight. Line is at -35/36 right now, which seems just a tad high. Short week, holiday week, I can see the kids not being focused - and let's remember, these ARE kids. Western's record isn't the indicator people think it is. They've played a lot of teams close, and have only lost by what tonight's spread is (336) one time all season - and that was on the road to Big 10 Iowa. They play teams tight - good or bad teams. They are an odd club. And at the end of the year, coaches tend to put in the 3rd/4th stringers at the end. Would hate to see NI do that and win by 30-33.
Good luck to everyone on this. I'm not on Western by any means. But I'd tread lightly on NI tonight.

Games through Friday I'm considering (but haven't pulled the trigger on yet) are

Texas -4.5 vs Texas Tech on Turkey Day

    Friday
    Toledo -8 vs Akron
    Bowling Green -1 vs Buffalo
    Ohio -16.5 vs Mass
    Washington -14 vs Wash St.

I won't go with all those selections, but those are the ones I'm considering - again - FWIW.

    Good Luck to ALL!

The blog has been great this fall. Hopefully I can help contribute to some wins.

  12. Mike, I was doing those last Spring. I'm actually waiting for these teams to play some more games to get better data/idea of how they will go. With so many changes, it seems to me that early season bets come with more peril, as the teams have such different looks. That's even the case right now in the NFL with so much player/coaching movement. I thought I was going to rip it up out of the gate this year, and started 1-7 (on tracked picks). Since then, when there's more info to go on, my record has been 18-10. Did the same thing with hockey. Was struggling out of the gate, then decided I wasn't going to return until I had at least 20 games to use as a baseline. So, the long answer is, NCAA BB will be something I dive into shortly.
